Drawers (An Epic Tale)

The drawers are where you know you can find
Odd trinkets, and clinkets
And things that go bump in the night
(yes you read what I said, now keep reading my friend!
Read until after you know it’s the end)
For this story I tell
(true or otherwise)
Was the demise
Of a princess in disguise.

This princess, you see
Was unlike any other
Unhappy in her mortal form
So instead of blessings counted
She decided, then confided
In no mortal man forever.

This princess knew
A tale of old
Which told of faeries and magic
A world she had no belonging in
A world she wanted to rule.

Our princess, therefore
Discovered more lore
And relished to have
The Sight, which allows
A mortal to see these “faeries”.

The girl of a princess
Was told of a drawer
In which the plants which she required
Were stored. She seeked
Out an elderly folk
Who could tell her
Just how to find this drawer.

The drawer was hidden
Locked in a basement safe
In a dungeon in London.
The princess came here
With her deadly wishes
And sought out the key to the locks
On the safe. When she found them
She toiled at getting the rusty drawer
Unlocked. But unfortunately, her lore
Didn’t alert this doomed princess
To the existence of
Faery spells guarding
The precious treasure
That was the princess’ desire.

The princess softly slid open the drawer
But before she could see
The treasured secrets
She was discovered
And silenced ever.

I think you can guess
What happened to our princess
But you didn’t expect
This is how it would end for her
Did you?
